1. Beautiful wildlife scenery

I used to get paid to stand at farm road intersections in Thief River Falls, MN for weeks during the autumn migration, identifying and counting individuals or flocks of birds, from tiny snow buntings and big snowy owls to Sandhill Cranes flying thousands of feet overhead catching a tailwind south.

This video brings back how much I miss that job.

3. Large flocks fly over our house every autumn on their way to nesting grounds on the Hiawassee River

in Birchwood, TN. When we hear a flock overhead, we run out of the house to try and spot them. It is always thrilling to see them fly over or kettling overhead.
