(22,788 posts)3. I'm not sure. Pompeii was destroyed in an instant, victims preserved in their final
moments when they were buried in 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice ejected from the Vesuvius crater. This is a series of lava flows from rifts that have opened outside the volcanic crater itself. Not much similarity to Pompeii or Herculeum.
