This is an insidious form of lying because it's a short, simple declaration that is easily taken up by the great unwashed and repeated over and over and over until it becomes Gospel. Thank god cable news is beginning to point out and label Trump's lies, but by the time he enunciates them, they're old news among the faithful. He gets his misinformation from Fox, not the other way around. Which is more insidiousness because he can then, if challenged, say "I didn't say that; that's just what many people are telling me" and the lie lives on.
