The Red Chapel A great documentary of two Danish comics, one mentally challenged touring North Korea

And the clever way in which they documented their time there, exposing the underlining repression while fooling the authorities into thinking they were only saying good things. Its funny, sad, and enlightening all at once. I found this gem a few years ago. Its worth the watch.

That perhaps "mentally challenged" is the wrong term. He himself refers to himself as a "spastic". He is very quick witted. Its just that he has trouble using his motor skills, speaking and moving. I'm not sure what the proper term is for his disability.

But what is fascinating is how this troupe, actually 3 of them, use his disability to get away with saying and acting out things they couldn't otherwise. The reason being that North Korea will euthanize disabled persons as they are a 'burden' on the State. So they don't know how to take him, how to accommodate him. Most have never been exposed to a disabled person, so like a child he gets away with more than another foreigner would. Plus the N Koreans don't understand Danish.

It gets more interesting after the first few minutes and they enter N Korea.
