(10,095 posts)They will now go after everything and anything that benefits the average or poor American. We will all hear "budget crisis" for the next decade until these programs are systematically dismantled.

(6,931 posts)in 100% control of this Country and there will be NO Medicare (go get your own private insurance at 75 years old for $4,000 per month) and SS will be gutted to the point of being worthless until it runs out of money and dies.
These FUCKS got their's and care about no one.

for visibility and to lay out the extent of this 'Plan.' People need to know the brutal reality! Thanks.

(10,901 posts)My understanding is that today, and for decades before, there already are two general options for Medicare eligible people:
(1) Traditional Medicare parts A & B. One can (and should) supplement with a Medicare Supplement policy (aka Medigap) and a Part D prescription drug program
(2) Medicare Advantage (M.A.) -- usually in effect does all of the above (one must separately pay Part B premiums in addition to paying M.A. premiums), but sometimes doesn't come with drug coverage (in which case you should purchase a Part D policy).
Sucky part: unlike traditional Medicare plus Medigap (where any provider that takes Medicare assignment is included), Medicare Advantage has networks of providers -- if you get out-of-network care, you are on your own as far as paying the entire bill. Anyway, besides being funded in part by the insured via premiums and deductibles and copayments etc. (like all insurance), my understanding is that Medicare hands a big chunk of money to a private health insurance company per capita or something like that to fund the care.
What am I missing? Thanks.
ETA - Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policies are also provided only by private health insurance companies, so even general option 1 above is not entirely "single payer". And of course Medicare Part D (drug coverage) is always provided by a private health insurer (about 25% of the cost on average is paid by the insured, and the other 75% comes from the Treasury's general fund, which in turn is mostly funded by our income taxes).

(7,205 posts)And I still do. Only because there is no way in hell 2/3rds of Senate Republicans will vote against the Great Orange demagogue. And even if they did - President Pence...!!!!
It is faster and cleaner to:
a) Win the House in Nov.
b) Use the optics of Congressional hearings to slam the GOP pillar-to-post.
c) Overwhelming win in 2020 and maybe taking the Senate along with the White House.
Instead of those "Impeach" billboards some are putting up, put up in the "Red" states:
We have to address entitlements.... Paul Ryan, Dec. 2017.
He meant to say "Medicare".
Washington Post June 2018: "GOP to CUT MEDICARE to balance budget."
They are trying to tell you something - are you listening?
Probably too wordy, but you get it.
