I watched the rest of the segment for another glimpse of the kitty, including a performance (involving the van) later in the show. I'm guessing that the kitten only made that one appearance and I consoled myself that they certainly didn't keep the "mother" either... and we know that Colbert likes animals since he has had several puppy adoption clinics on the show.
