Like many I have mixed feelings on McCain. I do send my condolences to his family & friends.

That was used for propaganda.
He had been subjected to torture just prior to the recorded statement.

I think that _everyone_ breaks under torture.
But McCain never asked to be released by himself, without his fellow detainees. In that sense, it is an amazing testament to his will power. I don't think I could have done the same.
