And the notion that turning on Trump affords a conservative some sort of ‘redemption’ is devoid of merit.

Conservativism is now what it has been for centuries: reactionaryism – the unwarranted fear of change, diversity, and expressions of individual liberty; an inane and pathetic attempt to return to an idealized past that never actually existed to begin with.

Conservativism is authoritarian, it seeks to compel conformity and disadvantage those perceived to be ‘different’ in an effort to return to that idealized past – with intimidation, fear, and hate.

Indeed, the rise of the likes of Trump is consistent with the reactionary conservative agenda; the Trump aberration is the consequence of rightwing fear, ignorance, and hate.
