Steven Spielberg - Dyslexia Interview

I am dyslexic and failed 2nd grade. Have lost count as to how many times people have corrected my spelling here. Some people are so nice about it and will PM in a very kind and considerate manner. Others not so much. I have always embraced my dyslexia as a positive thing.

This is a great read: https://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/05/business/worldbusiness/05iht-dyslexia.4.8602036.html

My whole family is dyslexic, except for me. In fact, 10% of the population is dyslexic. Their brains work differently, they’re often more visual, but this causes problems in reading (especially for our crazy mishmash language).
With the correct approach, dyslexic people can be taught to read just as well as anyone else.
Here’s a great site that has reading programs that have online games:

I’ve used Blast Off to Reading on many students with great success.

A recent article at Daily Kos that's very interesting is, 'Do I know You?' on prosopagnosia, or 'face blindness.'

The commenters remarks about the condition and degrees of it, also autism and other perception and neurological variations are a good read.

In contrast to people who have difficulty identifying faces, there are rare individuals with advanced abilities at remembering faces, called 'super recognizers' which Scotland Yard uses at times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosopagnosia

Jane Goodall, famous British animal behavior expert has prosopagnosia; I didn't know about Brad Pitt as noted.

'Do I Know You?' Daily Kos, Sept. 23, 2018.
