Trump is...
a Wimp
a Coward
a Weakling
Unable to confront people one-on-one
Unable to fire anybody one-on-one
Unable to stand up to Putin/Erdogan/Kim/Duterte/MBS one-on-one
Incapable of Leadership
Incapable of Honesty
Incapable of Being a Man

(4,341 posts)How can a grown man who has been in politics for so long even think of saying that? I can't believe he would mean it! the moment trump opened his mouth he told the world what a fool he is, the fact that he was put in the presidency by russia and the media is another story, but he didn't make it there because he was going to do great things, for Putin maybe, but not for the country.

(64,045 posts)thought he was "interesting" or something. The exposure you gave him boosted his profile with the public. Could you please, just once, apologize for giving him such free publicity?

(37,648 posts)It's job is not to please Democrats...or to please Republicans. Don't watch the show, if all you want to see is someone singing to the choir. There's a place for that. But Morning Joe is hosted by a former Republican, with a moderate Democrat sidekick, and tries to have both the left and the right on the show, to express their views.
It's the #2 morning show, so they must be doing something right.
If Trump became a viable presidential candidate, it wasn't because of a couple of appearances on this show. It was because a certain group of people liked him and were saying they would vote for him.
The MJ show had all the candidates on, if they wanted to be on.

(64,045 posts)Why did they do that? Just for ratings? And why didn't they ask more penetrating questions? Isn't that what news people are supposed to do? So many of us had real reservations about this guy. He was already awful to many liberals, such as me and my husband. We were more than a little concerned that they gave him the air time. In our opinion, Trump was already a bad, bad guy.
They could have done better, IMO.....

(37,648 posts)You treat a guest with respect and you are cordial to guests. You are viewing it as an anti-Trump voter (which I am and was, too). But it's a show to have guests on and for them to interview and let them give their campaign spiel. The point of bipartisan interview shows is not to argue with guests, unless something is egregious.
FYI...Joe was a Jeb Bush supporter, and Mika was a Hillary supporter. Neither ever supported Trump for President, and like millions of others, didn't think he had a chance. At some early point in 2016, they quit having him on, having judged him to be too bizarre and hateful to other candidates, plus all the lying.
Remember that it took a while for Trump's full bizarreness to be apparent, and the lies and hatefulness to fully exhibit themselves. He had run for President before. He would do that to increase his brand and make more money. Nothing more. So during much of 2015, that was how MOST people in the country viewed him.
I think MJ did just fine. They did a LOT to point out Trump's faults in 2016 and express that he should not be elected. As the #2 morning show, that was important.
There was a reason that Trump turned against them and their show. It was because they told the truth about him and other candidates.

(64,045 posts)at any rate we got him and MJ is doing their best to knock him every day, which I appreciate.

(3,263 posts)He seems uh, "Less than talented", and also has a high opinion of himself. It's stupid.

(37,648 posts)They have a lot of experienced pundits on, as well as all the leading Senators and Representatives (of both parties)...to the extent they want to be on. There is frank, bold discussion. I believe I hear it straight and to the point...about Devin Nunes, Paul Ryan, Trump, the chaos in the White House, the lies, the tax cut bill, the economy, the Democratic wins in the mid-terms, the Mueller investigation, etc. A lot of analysis from different viewpoints. Good show.

(28,883 posts)it's always the republicans. that was some bullshit right there. in fact i started watching this yesterday and switched off after that slur on liberals. the democrats have been better stewards of the economy at least since the first half of the 20th century.
at least he didn't say Democratic spending. i guess. but I am so over the days of being acceptant toward "liberal" being thrown around as if it's a dirty word.
