4. To be fair, China doesn't have as stringent environmental and construction regulations as we do...
...and even those they have can be bribed around, if they can be bothered to do that much. China is also notoriously bad about respecting the rights of anyone in the way of new infrastructure or other building projects. Whole towns and villages bulldozed for high rises or drowned from new dams, their residents forcibly migrated elsewhere.
China is a terrible example to use. Sure, they got a lot done. Most authoritarian governments can if they want to. But it matters *how* it gets done and who it gets done to, and if they are fairly compensated. Here at least the aggrieved can attempt to seek relief in court. In China it's, "HELL no, this is some bullsh..." *sound of gun cocking* "...this is fine. I'm fine. My family and I will go live somewhere else now. For the future of China! ...yay." |

5. These should be shooting across the Midwest yesterday....
Ever drive across he Midwest? Booooooring! I've driven across the USA multiple times...north to south, west to east and back...and there is NO reason not to have bullet trains across Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and nearly ALL the other states in the Midwest. They can also be built across mountains and rugged terrain, but at a much greater expense.
I HATE flying anymore. At one time it was fun and exciting. Now, it's frightening, stressful and a real discomfort. Get with the Twenty-first Century, USA!! |

6. Agreed.
It takes 8+ hours of tedious driving to get from Denver to Kansas City.
A bullet train or Hyperloop system would make a huge difference to us folks living out here. |
