I perform many Michael Nesmith compositions. I really dig his music, and this is a great song.

(8,345 posts)3. I agree and while there have been many, many versions of this song recorded since the twenties
when it was first written, this was the first 'countrified' version, which most certainly informed Lou Christie's later and more well-known cover. It also has some real smooth steel guitar...always loved it.

and was an early proponent and backer of digital media (for good or bad, depending on your view of digital recordings) in the form of the laserdisc.
