When I very rarely speak to a pubican to explain global warming, I liken it to a top because I feel their infantile minds will more easily understand a metaphor that employs a simple child's toy.

When we were kids, we had the old-style wooden tops with a string you'd rap around it then spin them into a circle in the dirt and they'd do battle, knocking each other out of the circle.

As you watch the tops spin, after a time they begin to spin more slowly then they become unstable, tipping from side to side, each rotation becoming more and more unstable until the top finally falls to the ground and spins on its side, out of control.

That's global warming explained for the ignorant pubicans. It's not whether it's hot or cold out. It's the extremes becoming more and more extreme until the top stops spinning. And there won't be any "spinning" the story when that happens.

22. it was a REAL -60 here last week

North of White River Junction, VT, at Jay Peak. Real temps were so cold they closed the ski resort; -60 at summit, -30 at base...and that is before wind chill calculation. Winds were hitting 30mph. Not a nice day out, and we're expecting another blast at the end of the week.
