11. Well, she didn't propose anything graphic - but her comment apparently started a controversy

She said something like "We should turn him over to his buddies, the Saudis" - meaning Trump. It was an offhand comment, but it seems to have gone viral - even before the end of the show.

13. Yeah, I saw that too. Fran made a gaffe, and

I figured she'd end up having so say sorry. Or else have the Secret Service out for a little visit to ascertain that she really doesn't want to give Trump to the Saudis to dismember with swords...

Sigh.

I just read 'dying of whiteness.' Sickening. I'm glad Maher had its author on. He was pretty good. The panel was OK.

Problem is, as smart as Maher is, he just can't keep up with all the shit Trump is doing to pull this country apart. Remember back in the sixties when Abbie Hoffman or somebody was going to spread tacks on the Jersey turnpike? This is what Trump is doing, figuratively, to our institutions, the environment, foreign policy (we might find ourselves in a nice little war with Iran soon) and you name it. He's called the free press the enemy of the people, Democrats animals, we have fucking concentration camps on the border...it just keeps getting worse - like the proverbial death by a thousand cuts.

Twice he said “republican” when he meant “democratic”. He was corrected the first time. This as during the chat with the panel.

12. Bill Maher, Self-Loathing White Catholic

In the conversation with Metzl, Bill refers to "self-loathing" whites, i.e., ultra-liberals, a group he (justifiably) shits on regularly. But in his New Rule, he craps all over Catholicism. his own religious heritage.

I was especially struck by his complaint about 21% of the country being Catholic but it's 67% on the Supreme Court. I don't dispute those figures; they're accurate. But can you even imagine Maher saying that Jews comprise less than 4% of the population but occupy more than half of the decision-making positions in the media? HA! He'd be off the air by sunrise on Saturday!

14. In that he is half Jewish and half Catholic I imagine he has every right to mention whatever ...

he wants. While he has character defects like anyone else, self loathing is not going to be one of them. He's not a self loathing Catholic, he is an Atheist and proud of it, which he mentioned strongly when was discussing Catholics and the Supreme Court.

Why do you loathe Bill Maher so much? Other than the imaginary "self-loathing Catholic" thing?
