They want to be "popular" in that they want praise and accolades.
But what they truly yearn for is power. The power to dominate
others as they wish, which begets FEAR (the meaning of "intimidation"
It also reveals their contempt for liberals whom they perceive as
bleeding hearts because liberals want to be loved by everybody.
Love? Mercy? Empathy? Kindness? BLEHHH -- who needs that
sappy shit?
Power, dominance, control, intimidation -- now that's the stuff!

(12,882 posts)I still gag at the oxymoronic phrase: Compassionate CONservative. If you SEE a Republicon performing an act of compassion, you can be assured it's an act. Like making sure a zygote has someone to protect it - until it's born - the truth is, there's something in it for THEM! In this scenario it would be the absolving of all the times they've shafted someone. Pay BACKS may be Hell, but Pay OFFS mean deliverance.
