(8,287 posts)I havent watched the View much lately and was quite pleased with these segments. MM was even respectful.

(2,461 posts)With all the hoopla about nepotism and elite privilege, this is such bad timing.
edit: I should have added 'with her daughter' in case that wasn't obvious. And I have to wonder why it isn't more obvious. This will NOT help win Independents and leaners.

Still want to pursue that line of reasoning?

IIRC, took her stage name early on from some old vaudevillian. Have no idea what her birth name is and don't care.

(2,461 posts)I have nothing against people promoting their work. And I bet the mom and daughter book is top notch. That wasn't my line of reasoning.
I just think it is incredibly bad timing to be releasing this book now. No matter how specious the Biden/Hunter conspiracy may be, it is subliminally messaging that benefiting from a politically powerful position is okie dokie. And that, IMO, is not a helpful message right now.

(90,673 posts)Except when they don't, and then they should have.
I'm sure we'll sort this out eventually.
Meanwhile, the job of talk show hosts and tv anchors is to get interesting people to come on the air and say interesting things so people will watch their program. As it happens, I don't tune in to The View -- but millions of other women do. Millions is a pretty big audience.

(25,481 posts)They mentioned two women from the book: Eleanor Roosevelt and Rachel Carson, environmentalism pioneer and author of the famous "Silent Spring."
The Clintons want to inspire girls and women. That's the message.
"benefiting from a politically powerful position." What? Chelsea has her own career, has a PhD from Oxford. Nobody thinks that family is anything like the Trumps. Unless they believe all the propaganda and conspiracies. And never bother to actually learn anything about anything.

(90,673 posts)Caught their appearance on Colbert ... God, did this country miss out. Bright, articulate, deeply informed, every fact at her fingertips...
Interesting about Whoopie -- she asked different questions, and Hillary's response about how she lost the election was more comprehensive than I have seen in the past. That is, I know she addressed Russia and Wikileaks in her book, but I have not seen her do so publicly with such ease before. Unlike Trump, who is a mean, vindictive, and self-pitying bastard, there is not a trace of self-pity (or any of the rest of it) in Hillary.

(25,481 posts)Interesting when McCain and Huntsman said their fathers loved to travel with Hillary and thought she was a blast and she explained why she thought she had to appear more serious. But of course if she had acted any different, she's be attacked for that too. Instead of "unlikeable" there'd be something else.
