I’m local and word on the streets is that he’s just declaring bankruptcy to get out of union pension obligations. This may or may not be true—the coal market is declining in a big way—but it’s what people believe and Murray has a long history of union busting. In any case, I’m sure he has a big pile of personal funds and is vindictive enough to use them.

BTW, some time ago, I met one of the lawyers defending John Oliver and got the impression that everyone at his law firm was laughing themselves silly over the case.

14. Before I watch this..

I have known about these SLAPP suits since the early 1990s as they are used quite often to thwart conservationists' efforts to stop environmental degradation. Argued in a couple.

I'm sure Oliver gives a fair treatment. Now I'll watch it.
