In the past we would drill a small hole (burr hole) near the affected area and relieve the pressure. Maybe they have something less invasive now?

they will prolly leave a drain in to collect any residual fluid.. He probably has been diagnosed with a subdural hematoma.. The good thing about his age is as we get older our brain shrinks and therefore he has a lot of "room" for the blood to go to. Young people tend to do worse with this kind of pressure on the brain...
