We know it happened, and no laws will hold him accountable. Let it go. At least appear to.
We can let our differences stick in our craw and we can slot our grievances away for future recourse; because right now, knowing the other side's flaws doesn't lessen that we're stuck with each other.
Maher knows that "let it go" isn't for forever, as he shows about the South. But for now he's right -- we must live with difference long enough to talk with others toward common aims that win more peace and a more perfect union. Or we get more FUD (intel's acronym for Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt), mass shooting eruptions, militarized police confrontations and blood.
We've got to talk ourselves down, and talk different Americans' through their fears, uncertainties and doubts to get there. If we can't, we need to let it go, live and let live.
If we won't, we'll be fighting against lawyers, guns and money that aren't even American, using us and fellow Americans. And the only people paying that blood and treasure bill will be our children and grandchildren.
Because, as sure as bad faith is in the world, there are forces out there who don't give a fuck about us, will let us kill each other off, then come in, mop up and take over.
