2. My recollections of when this film came out were that different folks across the political spectrum
sort of liked it. It struck a chord with a lot of people. I am not at all sure when that changed until we have so many in denial these days, as far as our environment. Reagan certainly played a part.

3. Saw it for the first time several years ago and it was
much better than I expected. Good cast, esp. Edward G. Robinson as the wise older scholar and an interesting story with believable human elements.

4. One of my favorite memories of childhood
Seeing it with my dad. Heston might have been a gun nut, but he had roles in three of the most iconic pre-Star Wars science fiction movies (Soylent Green, The Omega Man, and of course Planet of the Apes).
Strongly talked about global warming. This is in 1973. Movie based on the Harry Harrison novel Make Room, Make Room. By the way those who get so bent out of shape about casting African Americans in roles the source material had as white, the body guard in the book was African American. |

5. "Soylent Green is People!"
One aspect of this is that comedians never have to worry about becoming soylent green. Word is they were ruled out because they taste funny.

6. I remember Soylent Green
I had the book read it up until half a chapter in the end because the pages were gone. Been looking for the book ever since. But I saw the movie a few times.
