4. michael moore is a very talented, err, something......

Please don't take this as bashing democratic figures, it isn't. I like the guy. But he isn't as smart as he thinks. He is self absorbed and lives in a bubble of internal beliefs; which is fine. He is very talented at projecting those beliefs into film and in interviews.

But he isn't an oracle. He makes sense, but as he himself admits, it's a "sliver" of a chance.

His hopes won't come true. He and a lot of dems believe that because senators act in their own personal interest they will do anything they can to keep their seats. There is some truth to that, but it belies the reality that they have much more to lose than their seats.

The whole wingnut welfare industry exists to bribe these people beyond their terms. Everything from cushy corporate jobs, to think tanks, to k street, to administration posts, to tee-vee contracts. All of that is at risk if they buck the gop on key votes like kavanaugh or trump.

They have millions to lose in potential earnings once they leave the senate. And they aren't going to risk that. They would lose their seat anyway. They would be primaried and then forced into full retirement. Nobody would even return their calls.

This is what money in politics has bought. Absolute control over politicians.

It's just hyperbole. Most people will see that.

I'd be willing to amend it. What do you suggest?

5. Only the country has already been taken over by people that hate democracy.

Some (35-38%?) of the country doesn't care because it legitimizes their hate and that is their driving factor, 2% who approve are the wealthy that support him because he's making $$ for the olligarchs & that's all those care about. I worked for one for 20 years (husband was a Chief of Surgery at a major hospital and on the Board of the VA) and sat with her & the other Executives (oligarchs lite) in meetings ocasionally, etc. and that is ALL they care about. If there were any who disagreed, they kept silent.

I managed three departments but was never in an Executive role which is a good thing, I wouldn't have fit in.

6. Moore did the one thing I wish Colbert and Rachel would do every show

He gave out the phone number for the Senate constituent line and urged everyone to call.

Imagine if during Rachel’s show, or during Colbert’s monologue, the Senste phone number was emblazoned across the bottom of the screen, with “CALL NOW!”...

Emergency Podcast System about 9 hours ago urging people to call their Senators. He frequently will give out the number, he does make that easy for people.

It would be fabulous if all the shows would at least run the numbers across the bottom of the screen with the explanation, for those who have never done it, how to call the main number and get connected. They do not even need their reps name, the can still get connected.

14. I think he's right about Senators having their seats threatened.

And about there being people with real values. That being said, I still don't think that will matter when votes to convict come around. However, that could mean a pretty neat looking electoral map for us come 2020...

15. Except that they know their voters.

Remember that the people who elected them voted republican. Not a good sign if you are looking for deep thinkers. Sure they will follow the crowd and fuss at trump for a bit and maybe tell a reporter that they are angry that their senator voted with trump. But two weeks before the election, the republican candidate will shout about some black or brown skinned person who somehow got money or drove right though the white part of town. Or they will grab a flag and defend some ignorant bigot who doesn't want to make donuts for a gay man. Then the republican voters will fall in line. Just look at Maine.
