There is much more complexity and nuance to important issues than some would have us believe when they serve an agenda. Information requires the knowledge to process it and belief is secondary to that in many ways.
Critical thinking involves many factors and an open mind along with an understanding of biases goes a long way towards getting to accuracy and truth, which are both essential to freedom and justice and important to the continuation of democracy.
The more you know and the more you know how to think, (the process of it vs. contents) the less you are able to be mislead or even backed into a corner.

(12,712 posts)His broad range of study and insights into so many important issues could help to clear some things that seem confusing right now up.
Even though his current lectures usually range about an hour, (i think he is 90 now, wow!) I may post one now and then. The last one I watched took the lid off of some political facts that are very relevant to some of the debates and points made here.

(36,055 posts)From Reagan onward, he was way ahead of everyone about geopolitics, which provided a better perspective on our own nation's politics.
The GOP hate that guy, which means he's solid.
Exposure to his work and ideas would help young Americans, along with the reminder to older heads.

(12,712 posts)It is always good to hear from folks who know the value and importance of Chomsky as far as information and insights go.
I will post some talks now and then, but for those who are not familiar with him, do check into his books and lectures.

(86,612 posts)my advisor was a fan of Chomsky, he was poplar among linguists at the time. I got quite a bit of him, I think I may still have one of his books in my library.
