Three of the best I saw were Robin Williams, Billy Joel, and John Lennon.

confusing him with the Dick Cavett interview with John Lennon. James Lipton began Inside the Actor's Studio in 1994.

I remember Billy Crystal picking up the stack of blue cards, Lipton always used during his interviews, and dumped them on the floor

I can clearly remember both Billy and John sitting at the piano during their "interview ". I also remember Robin taking a scarf from a "student " and doing riff based upon the scarf.

off the beaten path style. I never knew he interviewed John Lennon. I'll see if I can find it on YouTube.

I had no idea he was 93. He was definitely one of a kind.....

The 10 questions Lipton asks are:

What is your favorite word?
What is your least favorite word?
What turns you on?
What turns you off?
What sound or noise do you love?
What sound or noise do you hate?
What is your favorite curse word?
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
What profession would you not like to do?
If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
