He takes the policy of someone like Elizabeth Warren and just exaggerates it (CANCEL ALL STUDENT DEBT) to make him seem more progressive. He always goes after character to work people up and make them angry. It's always about character. Everyone is corrupt, he's said so a million times. No wonder his most fervent supporters are disappointed Bernie is endorsing the person he has told them is not progressive and insinuating they'll be worse than Republicans (not for the first time in a general election).

And saying that disagreeing with someone on one issue doesn't mean that they've always been wrong, that nobody agrees with anyone on everything, that disagreeing on individual issues doesn't mean they sold out, that you can agree with Bernie on health care and disagree with him on free college and that's okay, no reason to attack his character.

Oh, David. That's exactly what the anti-Democratic attacks are. All or nothing. Purity. One perceived mistake and you're out. That if you do not agree with Bernie on everything you aren't progressive. Period. Turning the difference between Bernie's version of Medicare for All and the 2016 party platform and now Biden's position of ACA with public option and Medicare at 55 into the difference between uncorrupted authentic consistent purity and being a political establishment status quo corrupt tool of Wall Street and the insurance industry. Always about character. That's Bernie's tump speech.

The shoe is on the other foot is all. The #NeverBiden people don't understand what politics is and just want to be against something.

That it was never about Bernie or "The Cause"; it was all about ego. There are too many on the Left that get caught up in the emotion of the movement. It feels great, going to the rallies, getting caught up in the camaraderie and group feeling. But then, comes real politics when either the candidate loses or worse yet, they win and have to actually govern.

Then comes the the compromises and the disappointments that go along with democratic governance. And as such, the "knight in shining armor" is seen as having "feet of clay" and then gets called "sellout". Now the candidate may very well be ethical and effective. But to some people, if they don't get exactly what they want, when they want it (Now!) and how they want it, then it's the threat of primarying and protests. This kind of political extremist (both left and right) is explained perfectly by this clip from the movie "The Professionals" with Jack Palance and Burt Lancaster who were at one time both allies in "La Revolucion" but at that point are on opposite sides:

Having said that, the Left is especially guilty of alienating allies because of their unwillingness to compromise and their lack of coherence. This complaint is why most Leftists don't vote FOR Leftists; they don't have a track record of getting things done: https://politizoom.com/2020/04/09/confessions-of-a-leftist-who-doesnt-vote-for-leftists/?fbclid=IwAR2ZEHPCsp30w0-rHdJVNGnKvkfoacp064UaVht18j30zafp3UjtdZN1yFs
