1. Scary stuff. Sounds they aren't overwhelmed by Covid

Doctors have a very tight knit CYA policy. I’m sure people die because no one wants to question the doctor. I had one of those ng tubes placed wrong in the hospital. Filled a couple jars up with blood before they finally admitted it was misplaced and redid it. It was a rough experience but probably wouldn’t have killed me but there are a lot of dumb moves and they’ll never admit a mistake.

2. On CNN last night they thought people were avoiding going to the hospital

They could not figure out why!

Seems there has been a 40% drop in heart attacks in the USA since the lock-down!

Cardiologists don't have a whole lot to do right now!

As for Nicole Sirotek she also mentions the racial profiles of those being treated are minority populations. No wonder she is crying! Who can blame her? indeed!

Dr. Campbell in the UK is saying that dark skinned people are 1.8X more likely to contract COVID-19; black people are far more likely to contract it that light skinned people. In some cases, black women are 4X as likely depending upon location it seems. Dr. Campbell believes it may be due to vitamin D deficiency.

No none of them died.

They were wondering if being they weren't working and running around as much that they were less stressed, getting more rest and and weren't having as many heart attacks because of this was the idea presented.

Just a theory mind you.

I think they might be like me, as I now have a fear of hospitals. It was there before and I managed to get rid of it, but now it is back and as strong as ever.

You won't find me anywhere near one, that's for sure!

3. Lack of coordination and continuity in care, failure to listen to nurses, hospital mismanagement

and outright malpractice are conditions at many hospitals throughout the US. Of course these are more rampant now in treating Covid patients.
I put this on my FB and Twitter.

4. For Chrissakes

I have had NG tubes put in multiple times due to bowel obstructions. It ain’t fun. For those who don’t know it feels like having a pencil rammed into your sinuses. They listen with the stethoscope and take x-rays to make sure it’s in the right place. How can they screw that up?

My mother was suffering from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer when she developed a bowel obstruction in January. While inserting the NG tube, she aspirated bile into her lungs, went into respiratory failure and died a few hours later. So, yes, all kinds of stuff can go wrong. I knew the probabilities when the doctors asked that she rescind her DNR before doing the procedure. My mother was 81 and her health had declined rapidly the last week of her life, but still...

11. Sorry about your mother

Maybe during the times I have had them put in I have been lucky. Tilt your head down and drink a shitload of water while they are doing it. It is imperative that you swallow constantly so the damn thing goes down the esophagus once it gets past your sinuses. I remember one time they gave me a Dixie cup of water to drink and it was not working. My wife went ballistic and told them to get a big container of water.

All in all it is not a fun experience.

12. Exactly. Nurses should have majority seating on every hospital board. If a vote doesn't improve

direct services, it's out.

I predict that any studies of nurses on hospital boards would show measurable health care improvement -- higher quality treatment plans and teams, decreased death rates and increased discharge rates.
