I mean, California, Texas, and Florida all have higher populations, so give them a chance, yes?

Advance sarcasm alert: Alas, I live in New Mexico, which is 37th in population (about 2.1 million people), and alas, we have a Governor (Michelle Lujan Grisham) who has been very forward thinking, shut down this state long before most others did, and is pretty much keeping things in check, even though there's been an additional opening of businesses starting tomorrow.

Our biggest problem in this state with Covid-19 is in the northwest quarter of the state, mostly the Navajo reservation, which has a huge number of people who do not have basic services, don't have running water at home, and overall have truly crappy health care. Which is genuinely unfortunate.

My sincere hope and belief when all this is over, that we will have some kind of minimum basic health care for all, higher taxes on rich people (and if it turns out that I, with a certain degree of wealth am one of those, I will be happy to pay higher taxes), lower costs for public colleges and universities, a general flattening of wealth overall. I honestly think that these things, and others I'm not currently thinking of, will come about. It won't happen overnight. It will be a process, just as the recovery from the Great Depression was a process under FDR.

We all need to hang in there.

This may be a turning point, overall.

It will go from denial, fantasy, conspiracy, owning libs, to cold, hard, in your face sickness and death.

I think that's the only way they will really get it. "Show me!" Well, here we go. Blink your eyes and pinch yourself, it ain't no dream.

Own fault. When you look at the photos of the Trumpers demonstrating for opening up I suspect many of them aren’t in the best of health. But they don’t look like the kind of people who are going to accept any personal blame.

That's a good connection you made there and it makes sense because you would expect the rhetoric to have an intent and that, in this case, would be preemptive.

From what I have seen in statistics, there is a lot more chronic disease and obesity in rural areas along with poor access to health care, etc.

But the % increases are very large and in time the numbers will become large. A lot of people aren’t going to open their eyes till they or someone they know is affected.
