(54,274 posts)I was in the Air National Guard for a bit over 7 years.
The first 14 months I was attached to the regular USAF for pilot training.
14 months of (very) active duty would have brought me several benefits, but the feds had the caveat in there that it was "active duty for training" and so it qualified me for zip.
I got zero veteran's benefits for the 7+ years I put in flying Uncle Sam's obsolete airplanes and putting my life on the line with every hop.
This was back in the 60s and early 70s.
The air guard generally has much more up to date equipment now.
