Abrams Slams Georgia Leaders For 'Incompetence' And 'Malice' In Election Disaster - All In - MSNBC

Stacey Abrams: “There is malfeasance that is permeating the entirety of our voting system, and it’s exacerbated by the incompetence of the leadership that refuses to number one: do its job, and two: doesn’t seem to understand what the job is. That’s what we face in Georgia.” Aired on 6/10/2020.

Somehow, it seems that expecting people in a hot humid climate to stand outside hours to wait to vote by itself is an affront. Then to hear the paper copy of the vote component may not work, half the machines don't work and no one is really trained is all egregiously wrong on so many levels. And I feel bad for not only the voters but the poll workers who if like many I know are not paid government employees but good natured volunteers. Ashamed to say to this America.

He and his team from The Carter Center spent years traveling the world to ensure safe and fair elections in vulnerable countries. And here this terrible mess is happening right now in his home state... And the other major effort of the Carter Center, which is still going on, has been to eradicate preventable diseases in developing countries.

Actually all of this Trumpian stuff must sadden Jimmy. I served under him when I was in the Army. I didn't think he was the best of Prez's but it was not out of lack of best intentions, just a world more complicated than a Governor of GA could be prepared for. I expect GA may go Dem again for both Prez and statewide elections in the near future. What an embarrassment if you are a Georgian!

He attended Annapolis (because that was his chance to go to college) and was headed for great things when his father suddenly died and he decided to drop out and return to Plains to run the family farm. His superiors were not happy with his decision and neither was Rosalynn. Jimmy Carter is a nuclear physicist and used that knowledge to negotiate the last successful anti nuclear treaty with North Korea on behalf of the Clinton administration. He really is a brilliant man, despite his kind demeanor.

And he actually got a lot done as Prez as he made reasonable compromises and didn't seek credit for himself. Part of why he lost to Reagan but it was no lack of honor and best of intentions from Carter.

It's called "A Full Life: Reflections at 90," was published in 2015 just before we got stuck with Trump. He really has had an amazing life, I have it on audio, have listened to it in my car, and I think it was disc #5 before he even got to discussing his run for president. He talks about his childhood near Plains, his years at Annapolis and his Navy career, his first controversial run for public office (there was cheating and he fought it!) and details about decisions he made as president. He really was a hard worker and detail oriented, talks about his meetings with foreign leaders which he made sure he was ultra prepared for and all the projects he voluntarily took on, like his wish to secure Middle East peace and the Camp David Accords. He truly persevered, LOL.
