(205,336 posts)And tonight we heard that cases are increasing in 22 states. Where is the leadership on this??

(41,831 posts)Donald Trump is Responsible for this, and yet, I have this feeling that he will never pay for it. Maybe the State of NY will put him away for tax evasion, but for allowing all these deaths? No.

(205,336 posts)It took the Republicans to get rid of Nixon - and he hadn't colluded with a foreign power nor allowed a pandemic to ravage the nation while denying that thousands were dying??

(41,831 posts)Certainly Putin is behind some of it, but the Republican party has changed. The Religious bigots, and all the bigots have taken over the party. Trump has fired as many departments as possible, he is slowly dismantling our US Government. He liked what the Chinese leader said about being ruler for life. Trump thought since its never been done, he might want to be ruler for life. He has probably gotten Putin to help him. The only way to win, is to have the largest landslide victory for Joe Biden ever seen. Historic. Maybe the right wingers who still love Trump will be whittled down even further.

(205,336 posts)But it's gotten so it's impossible to be unaware of Trump's daily offenses. That's all the news that there is, there isn't even time to cover all of it. And you're right, he's filled every department and office with minions or "buddies" with no experience or qualifications. He's not only rejected our centuries-old allies in favor of the worst and most brutal dictatorships in the world, he's put Americans in danger not only because of this historic pandemic, but he's systematically gotten rid of safety regulations and environmental protections. How anyone who is still conscious won't vote against that totally boggles the mind...

Nothing will happen to him, with maybe the exception of the STATE of NY going after him. For all we know, Putin may have arranged a flight out to Moscow for him and his family if they don't win. I guess they will all have to either learn Russian or employ translators for every day life.
I REALLY WANT TO SEE... Federal Officers step in, and turn him over to the New York State Police. IF he got life for Tax Evasion, I would not complain but I seriously doubt that he will stay in any prison long.

(205,336 posts)Biden has promised that there will be investigations - and we know that Trump isn't getting a pardon!
Squidly
(783 posts)That he resigns shortly before Biden's inauguration, making Pence POTUS and then Pence pardons the whole lot for any federal crimes. Then its all up to NY.

(6,186 posts)From my personal observations, we are starting to see summer 2nd home folks coming into our region. Coming from Twin Cities, Chicago, and southern regions of Wisconsin.
The area of the state I live in the number of cases has been low. But with northern travel from dense population centers, I would expect the numbers will increase.
Rhiannon12866
(205,336 posts)He said there's a resurgence of cases in the South and West. I believe he specifically mentioned Arizona and Utah - though that may have been from another news report I saw.
And it's the same in my area of Northeastern New York. It's a fairly rural area and the first coronavirus death in the county made the headlines of the local paper. But now tourist season is starting and businesses are beginning to open. I've seen license plates from other states - including Alabama and Tennessee!

(6,186 posts)One day you hear 11 states are seeing an increase. Now 22 states. But I have found a link that spells out the 11 states let alone 22 states.
We are on the same page when it comes to wondering what will happen with summer vacationers.
Update: watched the video again. The graphics on the screen said 20 states. Then a the ~1:18 mark the Dr. said 22 states.

(205,336 posts)This was on MSNBC. I only remember hearing them mention Arizona and Utah specifically, just from the news I saw.
And here in New York, only groceries and gas stations have been open - and some take out food places, that's about it. But with the start of tourist season just north of here (Lake George), the tourist frequented businesses and beaches are starting to open up. And the tourists always spill over down here. Masks are required in every grocery and gas station/convenience store, it's posted on every entrance, and the floors are marked to ensure distancing. but who's going to enforce it?

(6,186 posts)Tiffany now represents the NW corner of the state the very area that will see the largest influx of tourists possibly infecting locals with Covid-19 to take to schools which he demands get open this fall.
Oh!, and I should mention that Tiffany just got elected in a special election in a secure gerrymandered GOP district. The very district that Sean Duffy resigned from in September 2019. Duffy resigned to spend more time with his family and their newborn 9th child with heart and chromosomal birth defects. Rumor now has it that he has since taken a K Street lobbying job.
