1. Actually to let that German statistic go by unchallenged

is a real failure. I noticed that immediately, and that isn't even my job. Hewitt retracted it later (after the damage had already been done). They should require training in debate in journalism school. Also he should have been questioned about the two rallies and what sort of social distancing was being emulated by Trump (note the peeling off of the stickers would have been some nice icing).

Conservatives will make up stuff to support their positions, so any number they spout off is probably a "misstatement."
Liberals should be bound by the truth, so all statements should be examined for accuracy.

The press has internalized 2 things. Conservatives will lie to "prove a point", and pointing out that they're lying will get you called liberally biased. So they're using that soft bias that conservatives lie and ignoring the lies.

I'm always shocked at how many conservative talking points for the last 40 years have been projection.
