governors, senators and congress person when the shoe gets on the democratic president foot, we can do the same to redstates that DEPEND on federal dollars to offset their crappy revenue base. I got NO problem with this at all

- they want to ban or limit abortion in Mississippi, cut back all federal dollars 50%
- if they want to make it harder to vote in Alabama, cut back all federal dollars 50%

this would include ALL federal spending and grants in those states. Let the citizens pay a price for their "freedoms"

3. That's the first tit-for-tat response many have. But it's not how Democratic leadership governs.

Biden would not agree with you because it's bad politics that stoops to the moral level of Republicans.

And there are too many Democrats in red states that our party shouldn't drag down with such politics that target red states.

This is not sophomoric, tit-for-tat political gamesmanship. This is about adult supervision of our tax dollars to build the nation back better.

So I can't agree, but thanks for your post.

8. Federal govt held back transportation funds to states that would not lower

speed limit to 55mph. So that was wrong? Are you saying that? So let's apply that to voting rights, are you saying we should NOT make voting fair and accessible across America by using the stick and carrot method?

You defend your post by putting words in my mouth and adding new issues.

You said:

"need to make it clear to ALL GOP

But as I said, what YOU have no problem with is NOT part of Democratic Party governance values. Democratic presidents have not "punished" states the way Trump does. Unless you actually link the existence of a current federal law about a national speed limit of 55 mph that also stipulates that funds are to be withheld, you can't throw up some new goalpost for point scoring.

You missed my point. Which is that the carrot and stick approach is not how Democrats govern.

You say that Dems CAN do what Rethugs do. But we don't use tit-for-tat logic. You might point out a rare instance of it, but no, it's not the party's way of governing.

If you think I think (?) carrot and stick can be applied to voting rights by a Democratic administration, you're mistaken. Why? Because, as Kamala Harris has explicitly said, fair and accessible voting across America will have to be made through a new Voting Rights Act. Neither she nor Biden would apply a "carrot and stick method." The law would clarify and enforce free and fair voting.

Democrats have never governed the way Trump does. That you think they should shows your mistaken notion of how the Party in general sees national governance.

Both sides could do it, but one side, our side, won't do it.

6. Dying? by COVID? Financially? Everyone I know, me included, is still paying their property taxes.

The state's budget is no worse than it ever was.

If you're talking about COVID, it's really up to the people of Chicago to not believe right wing hype about a hoax and herd immunity. Like downstaters, whose per capita deaths are just as bad.

Every time anyone in Lightfoot's administration attempts to remind people and enforce mandates, people are conned into believing that she's authoritarian.

So leadership is caught between the rock and the hype. Chicagoans have to wake up and stay disciplined. It's not beyond suburban haters to come into the city to hit-and-run loot and shoot, either.

But let's see what New York does with this, legally. When Cuomo slams this out of the park, other Democratic cities won't have to deal with these threats.
