(5,334 posts)outlined all of his victories to Woodward, thinking Woodward was on his side and would write a glowing book about Trump's Big Brain and Political Smarts.
Why did Woodward wait so long? One suggestion is that Woodward wanted to check facts and make sure Donnie wasn't doing some snow job on him. Make him publish and look ridiculous.
But it's one book amongst many that say 'Ummm, isn't Trump terrible?'. Something we already knew.
Too many 'tell all' books, none of them achieve anything, not reading any of them.

(21,998 posts)When he was interviewing Trump on February 7th, Woodward said he was prepared to talk about the impeachment and acquittal. That was what he was focused on. The coronavirus was not really much of a story at that point and Woodward said recently that what Trump was saying didn't particularly register with him. It wasn't until later, when he was reading the transcripts of his recordings that Woodward realized the conflicts between Trump's private comments and his public statements.
I'm not cutting Woodward much slack since he's not a hero to me. But the timing does seem reasonable. I've conducted a couple of hundred interviews and it's quite often that I've realized the interviewee said something that didn't register immediately during the session.
In any event, now we know what Trump said and did. Let's make sure he loses the election.
