I had a child born with this condition born in December 1964. Despite surgery by Dr. Denton Cooley and the best medical care at the time, she died in May 1965. This made me so happy to see this sweet baby running around and playing.

4. Moms understand this

And so do Nans. This is my grand daughter's experience, too, being born into the world with a damaged heart. Multiple surgeries, endless therapies, close calls. And barely 5 months old. Just last week, Cassandra coded and required CPR. She's okay but it was quite a scare, a mucous clot cutting off her airway.

Just like Kimmell's beautiful son, Cassandra's preexisting condition is a life and death situation. The bottom line is if you cannot afford to live, you die. Regardless of your age or vulnerability. We are all one injury, one disease away from a preexisting condition.

The GOP's Pro-Life stance is a total fraud, always has been.
