Susan Zirinsky, President of CBS news, talks about 60 minutes, Lesley Stahl, and Trump's walkout...

And other things.

She also gives us a lot of background on just what goes on in the newsroom. Really-- a lot. These people, most of them anyway, are as professional as you can find in any field.

Minor note-- Stahl has been through a lot more elections than Trump has, and learned a lot more about how they work.

Major note-- they got an equal amounts of complaints from all sides this year and say if they pissed off everyone equally, they have done their jobs.

(A common thread-- years ago I heard a judge say he made a good decision if both sides were equally pissed)

Is that when one side is honest and the other lies... you end up with half truths. And that serves no one except the liars.

I took was with the retired editor of the NY Post (Dolly Schiff's Post, not Murdoch's) and he insisted, to an unbelieving class, that ALL news media is biased. The trick is to understand the biases and know when to believe or disbelieve.

As I have mentioned before, I used to get both the NYT and WSJ for the subway ride to work, and their coverage of the same story could be amazing-- if they didn't mention what it was about, it could be two different things. The WSJ editorial pages sometimes even ignored what was in the news sections.
