I lived it and was traumatized to the point of never forgetting it.

As a Palm Beach County voter, it voted on that stupid ballot.

The frustrating thing is that all of the recounts, hanging chads and the Supreme Court would have been completely unnecessary with a competently designed ballot. The stupid butterfly ballot confused a lot of people into voting for Pat Buchanan. If voting registered the actual intent, then it would not have been close enough to warrant any of the bullshit that happened afterward.

I still have a stack of newspapers from election day through the end of the year that I saved as a time capsule. I guess I figured at the time that it was an historically weird election. Not to be outdone, 2020 comes along to be potentially worse.

a lot of the 'outrage' to shut down the voting etc came out of limbaugh's ass. the talk radio stations were constant with the hanging chads etc and screaming about democrats cheating

without all that screaming there would have been a civilized counting and gore would have won.

rove morphed that win into two decades of rw radio attacking immigrants for being used by dems for illegal voting and passed voter suppression all over the country - morphing into what we have now
