One reason I've been a steadfast Star Wars fan is the centrality of friendship and loyalty among those who would do good. It's also found in the Harry Potter series and, even more importantly, Lord of the Rings.
I enjoy programs in which character alliances rise and fall on a weekly basis, but there's still something to be said about a small group of people (hobbits, wookiees, droids) struggling against great evil not just to prevail in a great struggle, but because it's the right thing to do and it's needed to keep friends and home safe.
And yes, this scene is absolutely apropos for the moment.
