(2,958 posts)but I was on the couch Saturday morning and was curious about the Trump rally so I was flipping around. What was shown in the video I was watching live and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I don't know who that guy is, but I was loving it!

(10,749 posts)I've said it before. I don't get the David Pakman hate. He does the same thing as many podcasters; Egberto Willies and Farron Cousins comes to mind. He plays clips and offers commentary. And for this he deserves to be excoriated?

(6,232 posts)but personally I don't care for folks who feel they have to tell us what we just heard.
To me it feels like they're doing it just to get attention.

(14,173 posts)David Pakman is one of the best liberal channels. Very fair, very rational. Very intelligent.
The idea that if he simply sets the scene for us, and then discusses what happened after viewing it, is just to "get attention", that would apply to the majority of talking heads on YouTube and on network TV!
He is doing his job. Sure one could stumble across this Fox News footage on their own, but chances are many would never see it otherwise, such as myself, who does not get Fox News, and wouldn't want to watch any of it if I could. I appreciate those that wade through and find these stories that I'd never see otherwise. And no, it would not be as good if he just pushed buttons, and remained silent. It is helpful to me to hear him set it up for me who is being interviewed on what network. And afterwards, it is great to have suspicions confirmed, and to share with someone else the outrage they also feel.
It was good that he shared his own experience with the same host to establish that the host is no friend of the left. Making his point better how the Trump cult is even too extreme for that host.
Never understand why, in this age of the right buying up all the media stations, and have a monopoly on prime time media, especially on radio, we continue to trash the few supportive media outlets we have on our side. Is it because they may not have supported the "right" Democratic candidate during the primaries? Or some other reason I can't figure out.

(2,065 posts)He wants to stay out of jail. Also, he wants to loot the US treasury and taxpayer in order to pay off his loans when they come due. There's none who have been lied to more by Trump, and who have fallen for his lies so completely, as those who are fighting ferociously on his behalf in their vain attempt to flip this election. Courts and judges want evidence, not BS!

(10,749 posts)Every website that sells stuff via Amazon makes money when you link from their website.
I watch a YouTube channel showing boats battling the surf in Miami and the antics of bad boaters using the boat ramp and docking at the marina. Ads are played on their channel, and I presume they make money off of that. Fundraising sites make a percentage on every donation. Money-making is not a sin or a crime. They have found ways to monetize their interests and time. Great.
As for pundits interpreting other pundits. Again, so what. I don't really mean to belabor the point. I just think the antagonism is silly. He - and others - get views because people find what they do of some value, or entertaining. Maybe not a lot, but enough to spend a few minutes tuning in.

(981 posts)Don't waist my time by plastering what look like provocative MSNBC links on DU then, when you click on it, you rudely find out it's not as it seems. That's what.

(14,173 posts)Also, many people may not have been tuning in at the exact time that some MSNBC show might be discussing this. Did they ever? If not, the only way this story would have been brought to your attention is by you yourself sitting and watching Fox News all day, or this Democratic friendly host to dig it up and show you. Which happened with me, and you too probably right?
I love that there are more independent left-leaning YouTube channels now. TYT, The Majority Report with Sam Seder, The Damage Report, The Rational National, etc. More ammunition against Trumpism. Together, they help tell truths that sometimes the MSM can't or won't because they have to sell ads to Republicans. I appreciate them so much. Its hard to hear folks trash liberal leaning shows when they are so swamped by conservative talk on every other platform.

(981 posts)but TYT and The Majority report actually do a lot of their own content. I have nothing against outfits like this. It just pisses me off when people do not add to the conversation with original content and simply repackage stuff. Again, their intent is to monetize other people's work and I don't think that's fair. I also don't like being tricked to click on an image thinking I'm going to see an MSNBC clip.....
LiberalLovinLug
(14,173 posts)I guess I have no problem with smaller liberal outfits, repackaging stories as you say. I'd say they were calling out, bringing attention to a story that may have not been seen by some.....like me. I think there is a need for that with so much conservative media domination.
And in this case, I do not see any MSNBC logo or indication it was originally an MSNBC story. This is taken directly from Fox News as far as I can see. David used Fox News footage. And his preamble about being interviewed by the same host to give context I thought was perfectly appropriate.
But even if he were to take a clip from MSNBC or CNN or ABC or any of them, and "repackage" them in order to make a counter point or add a factual framework, I find nothing wrong with. In fact that is one reason why I watch him. He never just plays a clip for the sake of playing it and agreeing with everything in it. There is usually some point he will make in context of a clip. Anyways, I find his one of the better, less emotional, rational YouTube liberal shows.
