I used to work for a company that provided the television listings for newspapers across the country and the time change was extremely confusing for the two areas in the country that were non observing. But I hadn't realized that it was Native American lands in Arizona, thanks for sharing that. I learn something new on DU every day!

Arizona has been my home for over forty years. (Native Arizonans just recently stopped referring to me as a "Snowbird".)
Believe me, when the temps are 110° in early Spring, one does not want any more sunshine at the end of the day!
Someday I'll describe doing Tucson's Shakespeare In The Park in a concrete outdoor amphitheater during the Summer solstice. It built character.

At least it is in most places. Here in BC Canada we have been talking to Washington, Oregon, and California about switching to DST permanently, so the whole pacific time zone will be coordinated. No one likes the dark, short days.

Winter is depressing enough without having to drive everywhere in the dark - and I'm in New York.
