Is QAnon a Cult or Conspiracy Theory? Why did QAnon select Donald Trump as their prophet? (Original Post) Quixote1818 Jan 2021 OP

It was cooked up and marketed brilliantly based on ZERO evidence, NONE!

Only in a time like this could something like this metastasize the way it has. Every new major political issue that arose was absorbed into Qanon. That's the big tell for me. When the organizers tried to absorb the legitimate groups that were really working on the child abduction and sex trafficking problems that are very real and truly horrible, you saw the immediate push back and then the election really pulled the curtains back.

Personal Conspiracy Theory Injection : I personally think Michael Flynn was deeply involved. I have no evidence nor do I have any inside knowledge.

that it was so much for Trump as it was against Hillary Clinton. Whoever was the republican candidate would have benefitted from it. These people would have voted for Charles Manson if he was the republican candidate before they would have voted for Hillary.

on right wing websites in the summer of 2016. I can't say I saw the term "Qanon" but it was definitely the same crap. It didn't seem to catch on with more conventional media like Fox News until later, but it was out there.

and this maybe off base--is with the Manson family.

Manson had this whole weird theory of "helter skelter"--the coming race war in which he would emerge as the Great Leader and savior of the white race. He "interpreted" all these texts--notably Beatles songs on the white album--as having secret messages intended for him and his followers.

The same paranoid fantasies, the same gullibility (on the part of followers), the same potential for horrific violence.

The other notion is that it's all part of Russian intelligence operations to undermine the US. Russian conspiracy stoking has a long history. Remember "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" was fabricated by the Tsar's secret police. There are still people who believe that crap--and act on its vicious anti-Semitism.
