Yes, Impeachment After Leaving Office Is A Thing. Just Ask William Belknap - Rachel Maddow - MSNBCRachel Maddow tells the story of corrupt former War Secretary William Belknap, who tried to beat impeachment by resigning but his trial was held even though he was no longer in office. Belknap's case would be a precedent for the Senate trying Donald Trump a second time after his term is over. Aired on 01/13/2021. 'Historic Disgrace' Of Trump's Impeachments Likely His Most Enduring Legacy - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC Rachel Maddow points out that Donald Trump is the only president to be impeached twice, and he was impeached by the most votes and the most members of his own party, and a person with that kind of record isn't likely to be remembered for much else. Aired on 01/13/2021.

1. Ty, Rhiannon!
Ya, what is with dump's sister resigning her judicial position to keep from being investigated? I keep meaning to ask here on DU, but there always seems to be a crisis brewing.

2. She resigned to put an end to an investigation into allegations of tax evasion
Which she had engaged in along with her siblings. Her resignation ended the investigation. I highly recommend Mary Trump's book. It reveals a legacy of corruption that Donald continued and his siblings participated in.

4. I may be wrong
And if I am, I welcome being corrected, but now that trump actually has been impeached, what's next is to try to convict him in the Senate. I think I read that with that conviction, if it were to happen, there is a consequence. If he was still in office, the consequence could be removal from office, but he'll be out, so that won't happen. I wonder if they can give him some sort of sentence involving actual incarceration.
It'll be interesting to see what happens. I think we can all rest assured that trump's hell is really just beginning. |

5. I believe there are consequences, like not ever being able to run for office again
And to no longer be eligible for the pension given to former presidents. There are probably more, but those seem most likely to me.

7. And then there are pending charges from AG Letitia James in New York
I checked her out when she ran for office since I'd never heard of her until she won the primary. She made it very clear that she was going after Trump so she certainly got my vote!

8. She is awesome!
I'm confident that she's going to finish trump and his entire family off so we can move on. By the time she gets done, there will just be crumbs left for our DOJ to sweep up.

9. I'm counting on her as well!
She was very clear about her intentions when she first ran and has not let up since!

They just let him go.
