And that Pence refused so Trump was ready to have Pence offed. Trump probably thought he could appoint a new VP who would do as Trump wanted him to - pardon the entire Trump cabal in return for the office of President even if were only for a few days.

Pence was always too stupid for public office, but he's not stupid enough to fall for every single one of Trump's lies - just most of them.
