On the meeting on January 5th at the DC Trump owned hotel. Who attended and who was on speaker phone. What was the subject matter and a summary of items and action taken. They are not denying the meeting took place but they are spinning it as a Georgia vote watching party but the participants suggest otherwise. If it can be found I suspect there is a smoking gun in there somewhere. Another report said that some of those in attendance received part of the $2.7 million the Trump campaign handed out for this event.

5. Yes, and on Chris Hayes and CNN last evening, separate Law professors

one from Harvard, opined on the Constitutional aspects of the insurrection, and the word they used, which the journalists just let float by, was that Founders' thoughts were clear on matters such as these, and those thoughts were "treason".

So we are starting to have the conversation. This will move slowly because the fallout is unknown, but it's there, and I doubt it's going away. It's not like a bad officiating call in a championship game that fans debate for years. It's the foundations of democracy and our whole society.

8. That speaks to the influence of leaders

Obama, IMHO, would never, never, ever have summoned you to Washington to have a “wild time.” Further, if there had been 80 or so law suits by Obama’s people that were all thrown out of court and ridiculed by many of the judges involved, I really think you would have hesitated to follow a summons from Obama to come to protest “wildly.”

But your point is well taken: people who willingly kept themselves in ignorance and who unflinchingly supported a liar and criminal like Trump would be very vulnerable to his exhortations. Many of those arrested are insisting that it was Trump’s call for action that spurred them to come to Washington, his call for trial by combat (well, Rudy Giuliani gave utterance to it whole Trump stood to the side getting his first non-chemically induced woody in years listening to it) his insistence that the government was peopled by heroes and zeros and that his supporters should march to the Capitol to get rid of the zeros (again, words uttered by Junior while the old man stood by in absolute agreement, proud agreement) urged them on not to remonstrate with Congress but to fucking destroy it.

The Dems will not get a conviction, but they have to hang this one around the neck of every Republican Senator and every Republican Representative until all of those abettors of treason and insurrection are voted out of office or die. I hope to see action taken against Boebert and Greene soon, decisive action. Then I pray that the bastards in the Senate -- starting with Cruz and Hawley -- are at the very least censured for their support of treason. And yes, Lindsey Graham, you and Rand Paul, as well.

But, as Kenan Thompson, in role as Professor of Afro-American studies at Rice University, was won’t to say “Ain’t nuthin gonna happen” to the people who inspired, egged on and supported the insurgency. Only the dimwitted soldiers will go to jail. Of course they deserve to go to jail. But Jesus, isn’t it time to go after the commanding officers of that army of traitors, too? The Senators, the Representatives, the Political Right Wing radio jocks and TV jocks, and the President, his son, his lawyer? Especially the President.
