1. My take on the failure is that the military erred to far on the side of holding back because of

the debacle that took place when Tump called in National guard, police, and every Tom, Dick and Harriet to beat back BLM protestors for a political photo op. On top of that, Trump embarrassed the military by making it look like they were on his side in his exercise in abuse of force. That's why they were concerned about the optics of getting involved in holding back another political demonstration.

2. I remember the fear during the McCarthy period

so I don't want to see domestic terrorism laws passed or units devloted to hunting domestic terrorists down established. This stuff can turn into a witch hunt very easily and we all know from long experience no population is more terrorized than the handful of extremely rich men who think their taxes might go up if the left gets its way in anything.

In fact, I'm extremely uncomfortable seeing Qbots who were there turned in by friends and family, even though I know these friends and family are doing it in the hope something pulls them back out of the Q rabbit hole.

We have laws against sedition and insurrection and these are the laws that need to be used. They are adequate for putting the leaders and the liars into prison long enough to reflect on the courses of their lives.

But no, I don't want a witch hunt against the far right, not the way it has traditionally been done against the left, since even the moderate left has been targeted by agents who have run out of lunatics to harass. I want to see the leaders and the people who followed them into violence and a threat against democracy pay the price. The rest can be as loony as they want, as long as it's peacefully loony. That's the American way.
