Josh Hawley's mentor condemns divisive GOP strategy (CNN)

Nearly a month after Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley challenged President Joe Biden's election victory there is still no punishment for their actions; both senators keeping key committee assignments. Former Sen. John Danforth tells CNN's Erin Burnett he no longer recognizes the Republican party.

You very much helped the Republican party get where it is. I have been paying attention to Repubs since Eisenhower. I have known for more than 50 years their policies are based on prejudice/hate.

*By the way, that’s not a typo. Danforth is an Episcopal clergyman; a good friend of mine is the daughter of a priest who served as an underling in the parish where Danforth was in charge in the mid-‘60s. Danforth was the only clergyman she ever knew to drive a Rolls-Royce; apparently, his kids were so embarrassed by it that they tried whenever possible to get rides from my friend’s father in a “normal” family car.
