Rep. Schiff on MSNBC: If Trump Isn't Convicted, He'll Put This Country Through Hell Again

On Sunday, February 7, 2021, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC's The Sunday Show to discuss the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, President Trump's second impeachment trial, and why Trump must be convicted this time after Republicans refused to hold him accountable last time.

Schiff said, "If he is not disqualified from running again, if he does in four years, we can expect he will try to cheat, and lie, and incite, all over again, and put this country through hell again. And we should not want to see that for this nation."

We'll still be repairing the damage he did for years to come. After all the evidence of his guilt is displayed for all to see, there have to be enough republicans who will vote to convict him. There have to be 17 republicans who haven't completely lost their minds and souls, and who will vote to convict. Right?

He never stops his conniving and scheming with ill intent and manipulative disingenuous dishonesty. He's what he is and the spineless republican congress are worse cause they have the power to stop him and won't.

run again. He could still have power in the party and get a lot of attention without running again.

When he was not convicted on his first impeachment, he was still in office and able to do as he pleased, laws and protocols be damned. But he also had Barr and McConnell in positions to help him get away with everything. He could brag, " No collusion" and people believed it.

This time, though, even if he is not convicted, he can"t claim, "No riot" because everyone saw it. He can say, "No incitement," but people have seen the rally and heard his speech, along with Guiliani, Jr., and Flynn. The evidence will be seen and heard at the trial this time. People will form their own opinions regardless of whether he is convicted.

I think his image will be tarnished enough for people to draw away from him, except the hard core faithful. I don't think he will be able to bounce back from this like he has from other setbacks in his life.

The militias, fascists, and nutcase politicians will still be around and still be a threat, especially as they look for another leader. But I do not think Trump's own power will grow. I think it will diminish.
