1. This has always been my take on it, too

From renovating apartments in shabby neighborhoods to new construction anywhere near Central Park, nobody can avoid the payoffs, shakedoesn, kickbacks, and simple greasing of the wheels on the trucks that remove dumpsters of construction debris without dealing with organized crime at some level. It's just how things in the city work.

If they want to find the real connections, it will take years of picking apart the books and tracking shell corporations and offshore banks that have made their reputations on being uncooperative. Even at that, it will have to be the last resort for going against any crook who's successful enough to have creative accountants and crooked lawyers on the payroll: tax fraud.

I've thought the two reasons he didn't have solid mob connections is first, because he's not smart enough to have them and second: he can't keep his big mouth shut.

Has he done dodgy deals with mobsters over the years? Oh, yeah, but that's a far cry from being a trusted associate.

4. He and a Russian bought a couple of condos from Trump in cash in the late 80s or early 90s for millions of dollars cash
5. Robert Muller's team tried to tie Donald to the mob through the above transaction
6. He was never told Trump's one of us (the mob)
