"Uncle Austin" is going to get a big surprise. There are a lot fewer bigots here than he thinks. Smarmy suckup.

I maybe an American, but I Have rooots elsewhere... WHAT ARE WE GONNA not have THE cherry blossom festival every year? Because someone was offended they didn't have their cultural holiday?? IF the cultural holiday is important, you will celebrate it just like we celebrate Thanksgiving... Maybe we shouldn't have any HOLIDAYS cause it offends some people. ??? no thank you.

I know there are a lot of schools and especially after standardized testing where students are taught WHAT to think instead of HOW to think... but my schools were a little better, I grew up West Coast, Seattle and near LA, so we had some progressive teachers.

I wanted to be a cultural anthropologist in High School because different cultures were SO interesting. Even if it whatever they did wasn't my thing, knowing that others lived a certain way and all the factors that went into a society being a certain way seemed fascinating to me. The world is a big beautiful place and often horrible and crazy at the same time.

My Sophomore US History Class got into a lot of the checks and balances and we were on the early portion of Chris Columbus wasn't exactly a perfect guy.... Norwegians beat him here and he was just horrible to the "Indians" named so because Chris thought he was in the West Indies. The raw deal Native Americans got and slavery was / is the greatest stain on our history. But it's good to learn more.

Somewhere I learned about redlining and I've always been poor/lower middle class never much past that. So I have lived in the neighborhoods that blacks were red lined into. Fine by me. Better neighbors than those snooty rich folk as far as I was concerned.

Crime, problems and lack of resources aside there is something about growing up with diversity and being able to come together but not to be some stupid melting pot. Like if you see anyone AS THEY ARE then respect them FOR that and find a way to work together using your combined strengths. You have friends and them being different is part of the fun. When you get in the real world, it really helps because you aren't in special snowflake mode expecting everything to be just the way YOU want it.

BUT THE WHOLE WHITEWASH of this Nation is stupid. Black History IS American History. Norwegians want a month of their own, sure, why not? Finns, Chinese, Peruvians ok. But WHY TAKE any Black history AWAY? There are 11 other months, let's do a lottery system. Whatever.

You can't solve a problem if you WON'T admit it.

MY main problem with this guy is wanting to tear down the statue of Jesus. If Jesus were alive today he would STILL be on the side of the poor and the downtrodden, not the rich and powerful. Jesus gave the Pharisees a lot of heat about their hypocrisy. WHAT PEOPLE DO IN HIS NAME isn't always reflective of the things Jesus taught.

Jesus wasn't some terrorist or slaver. Yes, Africa should have statues of Jesus that looks more Jewish, less white European. BUT for ME even the statues people are tearing down of the slavers would be better moved to a museum. IF WE DON'T PUT THAT SHIT ON DISPLAY, we run the risk of forgetting HOW BAD IT WAS. Forgetting is the first step to letting it happen again.

BUT HATE IS HATE. The Nigerian coming in and saying he will end Black History Month is hating on himself without knowing it. He is part of America's Black History going forward and he should look up OVERSEER in the history books. If that is the best he wishes to aspire to here in America, he is dealing himself a bad hand.
