(3,010 posts)who are eligible, have turned down or at least not scheduled a vaccination yet even though there are more than enough shots and appointments available and have been for weeks. I would think employers and even health insurers would start pushing people as the costs of Covid treatment can run $30k a day or more if it ends up with a patient in the ICU. And the ongoing risk to the economy now that the B117 variant is increasingly prevalent is severe. Prelim studies of that variant indicate it is 50% more contagious and 60% deadlier and may already be 20% or more of recent US cases.

(205,169 posts)121 current active cases, 11 are new and 3 of the new ones come from schools, new quarantines are now in place. The governor just lowered the ages for vaccinations here in New York and set up 2 new nearby vaccination venues, 1 county and 1 town, not to mention those available in pharmacies. I'm scheduled for Moderna shot #2 next week.
