On Sunday, the Miami Beach, Florida, city council held an emergency meeting after police officers used pepper balls and brute force to break up crowds disobeying the imposed 8 p.m. curfew on Saturday night.

4. I was shocked when I saw the maskless crowds

Who would feel comfortable taking such chances?? Here in New York, you can't walk into any business without a mask, the grocery stores have one-way aisles and most places have floor markings indicating where you need to stand in checkout lines to remain 6 feet apart.

7. Well, I'm in the Northeast, closer to Canada than NYC, though we do get tourists

And I'm under no illusions that we're safe up here. As of yesterday there were 121 active cases reported, 11 of them new ones, just in this small county. And we do have our share of disbelieving idiots.

11. Oh, we have them here as well. It is a rural area

I recently encountered someone who doesn't intend to get the vaccine, believes some conspiracy theory that all of us who get it are going to experience some sort of unknown adverse effects sometime in the future - apparently all of us millions! I explained that they were thoroughly tested, but there's no arguing with someone who subscribes to vague conspiracy theories rather than actual news.

14. This group of entitled young people are of our own making.

We are raising a lot of young people who feel entitlted to do whatever they want whenever they want. This is not all of this generation, but it is a large loud number. They don't feel there should be any rules regarding their behavior and certainly no consequences. There a lot of great young people, but many of them are treated horribly by the "entitled class" if they have to work to stay in school, if they respect their professors and others they are ridiculed.
