I Gather That Rachel Has Had Enough With Joe Manchin's "I Alone Can Fix It" Act.

Joe Manchin is already threatening to sink the House legislation on gun safety, and is showing tired old re-runs of his "I am the last centrist Senator in America, and I alone can fix this" show.

Rachel points out that the last time he did this, he failed to deliver even the smallest and most pathetic gun safety reforms, even though it was only a month after 20 children were slaughtered by a nutcase with an AR-15; and that maybe it's time to stop allowing Manchin to FANTOM SACK the Democratic Party.

1. I don't see Manchin voting for gun safety of any kind.

I don't see Manchin voting to end the filibuster, and even if he did we still need his vote to get to 50. Manchin is the weakest link to our democracy. I am pessimistic, I see bad things coming, I need cheered up. I stopped watching cable news because it has completely lurched to the right. Help.

Without his vote, there is no DC statehood, and he gets to hold on to his position of power. He needs to be convinced that the power he has now to kill the filibuster and pass meaningful legislation will help West Virginians. Otherwise the power he holds is for obstruction and nothing else, which gives Republicans the upper hand.

at least in Pennsylvania history. He stood for nothing except casting right wing Senate votes.

Something is very wrong with our system if one man can determine a functioning democracy.

bet there are others who won't vote for it in the Senate...in red or purple areas. I want to see gun control and believe most of the country in blue and even moderate states wants reform. But it is not a voting issue for our side yet...By that I mean an issue that candidates will win or lose on. Virginia gives me hope for the future. But I doubt much will be accomplished right now. I hope maybe background checks and gun shows will be addressed at least. We shall see. If we want to really do gun reform, we need a larger majority in both the House and the Senate.

And, as fmr Sen. Claire McCaskill said on Last Word, we also have to make sure he doesn't fuck us over by changing party, if he did, McTurtle would be back in charge. It's dicey and I say, fuck him for doing this.

is the kind of guy who is against gun control - UNTIL - some nut with a gun harms or kills someone related or close to him. Then he'll want to know why no one did anything to prevent it.

What good does it do to have a majority in either house and in the country if we can all be held hostage repeatedly by the same hand full of hostage-takers?

Who IMHO are only interested in enriching themselves at the public trough. Starting with a $180,000 dollar salary and leaving as millionaires. Many as multi-millionaires.

The best legal form of hostage-taking if your intent is enrichment.

And yes I'm ready to give up good honest policymakers if that is what it takes to clean house.
